a jw cousin of mine called my jw wife today and asked if i saw my new nephew from my jw sister.
my wife said "no, his family would never allow him to see the baby!
" (i'm da'd).
I've said this same thing to my husband over and over.
I think it really just makes them feel spiritually superior to treat people like they are what is under the doggie doodie on the bottom of their shoes.
These same people would probably be the yes men to bullies or the bullies themselves if they had any real power in the world.
i saw an episode of a day talk show the other day in which they interviewed these two women that were part of a polygamous cult in utah.
the cult was referred to as 'the order'.. men married many young wives, and these were expected/forced to breed in large numbers.
these women worked for the cult.
This is the third time in my life I have been touched by a cult.
The first was going to the International Church of Christ. I was 8 when we left and my mother suffered terribly. It's very similar to leaving the Jehovahs Witnesses. We were shunned and my mother was even slapped across the face in public for leaving "God"
Then a few years later a very close life long friend of my mother joined the Moonies. I remember when she came home because one of her parents was dying. She was not allowed to stay with them because they disapproved of the organization and she stayed with me and my mom. She had to call someone to ask to eat, drink, and use the bathroom. She also spent a lot of the day meditating and making very odd noises while doing this. She is still in some off shoot of them and she was so vibrant and wonderful before they touched her and she is so different now.
The third being the Jehovahs Witnesses. I am still so angry that my husband doesn't see them for what they are and what they do to families. Thankfully at least he agree's that they stink in how they handle sexual abuse of children and protecting the congregants.
i am absolutely hopping mad angry!!!!.
to those of you who know me, you are aware that i have been fading for over a year now.
i have a daughter who is 5 and a son who is 2 y. in brief iast year i separated from my husband, left the organisation, met someone else and am now expecting with my new partner.. well i have had the usual ups and downs with my jw family.

We are going through this now with our oldest child who will be 5 in a few days. One of my sister in laws will not even speak to me or my children. If I was on fire she wouldn't spit on me to put it out.
I hate this religion and how it takes the humanity out of people for the sake of pleasing an ever hungry soul snatching organization.
As long as you love your children and set a good example they will be okay. Love them so much they will never miss the love of those judemental family members.

i hate how the wt makes a member's family seem less important than their jw "family" by conditioning them to add the "fleshly" qualifier to "sister" or "brother" when talking about their siblings.
it just always made me shudder.
did this really bother anyone else?
My husband and I were just talking about this. It really upset me when the people at the KH would tell me that my Fleshly family would be less important in my life than the people at the hall.
The people at the hall would be my new family.
Yeah - right...until I did something they didn't like.
It still upsets me today but I am glad that it does because no matter how lonely I get I will never go back there.
did anyone actually enjoy singing the kingdom melodies at the hall?
some of them were fun to sing, some of them were corny.
my brother use to sing them loud but without any sound coming out of his mouth.
My husband has a bunch of the records of kingdom melodies. I hadn't known they made records until I saw those.
Does the WTS now make cd's of the songs?
Listening to the people sing at our old hall would not have been uplifting to anyone. There was about as much enthusiasm as one would display going to have a papsmear or prostate exam.
this is a bit of an expansion on the above thread.... if memory serves (which is questionable), it seems that i read or heard that if a witness had employment which made them privy to files at work and if they saw something in the files that may be evidence of "wrong doing" that they were obligated to report the information to the elders.
for example, if a dub worked at a video store and saw that another witness had been renting r rated movies or (gasp) porn, the elders needed to know this.
or maybe a witness worked at a hospital and had access to medical files, the elders would need to know if anyone had been treated for vd, had a forbidden blood treatment, or if a sister had an abortion.
When I had my son 5 years ago one of the Elders' wives worked at the hospital as a nurse in ICU and another sister worked in Radiology. They were constantly going into the computers and records room and reading about people in the hall's illnesses and treatments.
The doctors were considering a blood transfusion for me because I had lost so much blood while giving birth and suddenly the elders' showed up at the hospital to council my husband and some of the stronger sisters showed up to council me.
WE DID NOT CALL THEM OR ANY OTHER WITNESSES....SO HOW DID THEY KNOW?
My mother was there with me and told them to get the F-ck out or she would sue the hospital for breaching my confidentiality rights.
I am still very angry about this because after the Jehovahs Witnesses showed up I was treated like a wierdo by the maternity nurses and I had to keep telling them I am not a Jehovahs Witness and I don't believe what they do. But it didn't matter, the damage was done by association.

I do not know much about faith healing but I have a friend who had polio as a child and also had severe scoliosis - her spine was very curved. She is catholic and went to the waters at lourdes and can now walk and has no pain in her back at all.
A miracle or act of satan I don't know. I am just happy for my friends relief.

is it just me or are a lot of jehovahs witnesses just completely mannerless and lacking in social graces?.
examples....... they don't seem to say thank you for gifts or kindnesses.. i went to quite a few gatherings and burps and farts would happen without so much as a pardon me or excuse me.
i was even told once it's natural and there is no reason to say excuse me.. they will just stop in at your house if they are in the neighborhood and stay for however long without even calling or getting your hints that you happened to be on your way out.. i have met some very nice and polite witnesses but they are few and far between.. is my experience limited - has anyone else noticed rudeness, and a lack of manners and social graces?.

I thought that only happened at our house! It used to make me so mad because we had a new baby and babies are awake alot at night.. Ours had days and nights mixed up so as soon as 7am hit - Baby was out like a light.
Then we'd go to sleep and at 9-10 am they'd be pounding on the door! If you didn't answer they'd just keep pounding and wake up the baby!
Still pisses me off!

At the hall I attended with my husband we had a few Jews who converted to becoming Jehovahs Witnesses.
I always thought it was quite odd that they did that.
My Godparents are Orthodox Jews and very wonderful and accepting people.
